Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT) is committed to implement study programs and policies aligned with EU Agenda. The PUT is trying to be part of European projects and to impact some important disciplines like Physics, Mathematics and Engineering. We believe it’s important to efficiently encourage and support STEM skills development, advocating STEM studies and careers, promoting women participation in STEM, encouraging teachers’ professional development as well as creating a healthy environment for better communication between professors and students. With this in mind, we aim to establish the module “Innovative STEM teaching practices in Albania towards European Integration”. It will be implemented by the PUT and will be opened to students of Bachelor and Master Courses in Physics, Mathematics and Engineering. The module will involve around 300 students in three years. The proposal fosters the development of one annual interdisciplinary course “The New Normal: Stem and Digital Transformation” that will use activity-based projects and hands-on experimentation to learn about complex theories. The teaching course will address the European approach on STEM initiatives, will comprehend new teaching methods and will focus on helping students realize their potential through real-world problem solving. The teaching part will include 3 seminar series, and one final workshop. The module will focus also on different promotive events like the promotion of STEM in Tirana high schools, to bring scholars next to science and “SciencefemSaloon” to promote the participation of women in STEM. To have a greater visibility, impact to involve different representatives from the Ministry of Education, other Universities in Albania, different non-governmental organizations, researchers and professors, there will be organized a final workshop “STEM in Albanian higher Education system” to disseminate the main findings and results of the Module to a wider public.
