The Faculty of Information Technology was founded ( by the merging of existing structures: the Department of Electronics, the Institute of Informatics and Applied Mathematics and the Information Unit.
In the year 1953, the system of studying while working was implemented for the first time in the training of Electrical Engineers. In 1954 the Faculty of Electrotechnics and its first cathedrae receive official approval. Nowadays the Faculty of Electrical Engineering educates qualified electrical engineers and plays a significant role for the development of Albania. In 1954, the Electrotechnical Faculty and its first chairs were approved. .
The training of specialists in the field of Mechanical Engineering dates back to the year 1951. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been functioning as an independent unit of the Polytechnic University since 1991. In 1999, a restructuring took place and the structure still persists to this day.
The tradition which the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism represents dates back to the beginning of the university studies in Albania. Today, after almost half a century of history, FAU continues to be a leader of the education and research in Architecture and urbanism.
Since the foundation of the Polytechnic Institute to this day, the Faculty of Civil Engineering has been a success story for the country. The most important achievements in the field of construction hold the seal of the advanced opinion of the engineers trained in the auditoriums of FCE
The programs of the degrees offered by the departments of FIMIF are the same as those offered by the Polytechnic University of Milan. Upon finishing the studies, a second level diploma is issued, in Mathematical and Physics Engineering.
FGM is the first institution of Higher Education in Albania for the training of specialists in all the disciplines of mining industry sciences. The different profiles aim for the development of geology in all its directions.
Institute of Geosciences is a national scientific research center in Albania, which operates under the Umbrella of the Polytechnic University of Tirana. It provides services for the third parties in the field of seismology, natural resources, geo-risk, geology water and the environment.
The Polytechnic University of Tirana, since its foundation has often served as a generator and supporting factor in the history of higher education, technology, innovation, economy, national culture and public life.
